Course Description
This course gives individuals a practical understanding of how to safely handle and manage sharps and infectious waste in the workplace. It is designed to support workplace health and safety by reducing the risk of injury, contamination, and infection.
Participants will learn how to identify, handle, and dispose of sharps and infectious materials in line with relevant Australian guidelines and workplace procedures. The course promotes awareness and safe behaviour in environments where exposure to these hazards may occur.
By completing this course, students will gain a basic understanding of the different types of sharps and infectious waste, potential risks and health impacts, safe handling and disposal methods, Personal protective equipment (PPE) use, spill management and incident response, relevant legislation and workplace procedures.
This course supports a safer workplace and helps meet duty of care obligations under Australian health and safety laws.
